Fabrizio Bertolino

Fabrizio Bertolino obtained his degree in Natural Sciences. Since then he has directed his studies to human sciences and in 2003 he became a researcher in General and Social Pedagogy at the University of Valle d’Aosta, where he deals with the training of future teachers and educators. Over the years he has focused his scientific interests on areas that bridge between the “two cultures” by building specific skills in the field of environmental education and sciences education. He is charter member of the Interdisciplinary Research Institute on Sustainability (IRIS). From 2001 to 2011, in addition to research and teaching at university, he held the position of President of the Natural Park of the Torino Hill.

Martin Dodman

I work as a lecturer and researcher in the Faculty of Education at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research on Sustainability at the University of Turin in Italy. My work is concerned with the study of factors that influence the development of educational systems and the characteristics they give rise to in the systems of different countries and continents. I am interested in the building of new paradigms for an educational process capable of promoting a sustainable evolution of human society and trajectories and the characteristics of educational systems that are coherent with this process. I am particularly concerned with the role of language and both environmental and personal multilingualism in learning processes and in curriculum development and with how language can be a facilitating or impeding factor in the pursuit of sustainability.

Silvano Folco

My presence in IRIS is mainly related to two principal fields of interest.
On the one hand, I deal with technologies related to communication and training: I designed and manage several institutional or educational websites and I teach - at numerous institutions - disciplines related to information technology and the application of information technology to the teaching and learning.
On the other hand, I am a musician and I write, play and sing in experimental projects ranging from the interaction between music and image, to the development of methods and practices of making music linked to the themes of Sustainability and the containment of energy and resources consumption.
I am a member of IRIS since 2007, with several previous collaborations; I'm admin of the website of the Center and I try to give my contribution to the narration of the themes of complexity through my knowledge in the fields of multimedia and interactivity.
I am also a member of the Editorial Board of "Visions for Sustainability", an indexed scientific journal published in open access by IRIS.
