Interdisciplinary Research

Opportunity through differences

To research on sustainability IRIS brings the thinking and ideas of researchers from various cultural and disciplinary backgrounds, in an attempt to create an approach as broad and multifaceted as possibile through the dialogue between different sciences and fields of study.

Behind this interdisciplinary approach lies an analysis of sustainability as a complex and controversial isssue requiring a wide perspective that takes acount of both linear and systemic research methods.

In this way, approaching questions from a multiplicity of points of view, IRIS can bring together and elaborate a research model which considers relevant contradictions, different presuppositions and diverse conclusions, in that a dialectic relationship between different fields is capable of effectively expressing the complex reality of social, natural, economic and cultural systems as interacting subcomponents of the concept of sustainability.
